Our island is a wonderful holiday destination if you're travelling with your dog. Forest, dunes, nature reserves – all the soft paths and bushes will make your four-legged friend truly happy. From Bungalow Park Gortersmient, you can walk straight into the forest. On a morning stroll, the light is magical and the only sound breaking the silence is the singing of birds. Now that’s a lovely way to wake up!

Blow away the cobwebs at the seaside

The North Sea beach, just 2.5 km from Gortersmient, is a giant playground for dogs. Take a walk along the shoreline – then the leash can come off. Splashing in the waves, running wild… it might be hard to convince your furry friend to go home afterwards.

Dining out with your dog

In many beach pavilions and restaurants on Texel, dogs are welcome. Make sure your four-legged friend stays under the table and be mindful of other guests. There’s often a water bowl with fresh water near the entrance. Want to know where dogs are (or aren't) allowed? Ask the restaurant in advance or check the umbrella website “Restaurants on Texel,” choose your favourite restaurant, and filter by features.

Walking trails with dog

On Texel, you and your dog can enjoy the fresh air and unwind. There are countless walking trails where dogs are allowed off-leash. During the breeding season, on play meadows, and in areas where Highland cattle graze, you’ll need to keep your dog on a lead. Want more information? Dog wash station

After romping around in the dunes and swimming in the sea (or creeks), your dog is probably ready for a good wash. You can do that at the Texelse Dierenwinkel in Den Burg, right next to the Jumbo supermarket. The tub is set at an ideal height, making it easy to wash your dog. Various shampoos, drying towels, and a water blower are included in the price.
